Discovering the region is, without a doubt, knowing where Nature lives and where you breathe good air.
To get to know it, you have to arrive and get lost in the valleys, breathe the pure air of the mountains and the river, let the green of the landscape invade your senses.
The clear water of the unpolluted stretches of the Alva and Mondego, running in capricious curves between steep hills, offers us river beaches such as Vimieiro and Reconquinho, in harmony with a scenic landscape.
Land of rivers and streams, viewpoints and boulders, of mills and watermills, of wind and water!
Quinta da Conchada Hotel & Spa
Built at the beginning of the century. XX, on the initiative of the politician of the same name, the Belvedere Emydgio da Silva, located next to the old Preventório is a project, by the Venetian architect Nicolau Bigaglia. Inaugurated on May 31, 1908, the Lookout resembles an oriental pagoda built on the most advanced prow of the escarpment. Vitorino Nemésio would later write that from there he seemed to be “seeing the cathedral from the pulpit” and, in fact, from there, next to what had once been the Castle and Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Guia, and under the columns of stone originating from the Monastery of Lorvão, the landscape over the Mondego, overwhelms us, it is so magnificent. The great Late Hercynian fault that runs from Orense to the Lousã basin
It is here, in Entre-Penedos, that the well-known Mondego Bookstore is located, named after the strangulation of the river and the “high settlements of siluric quartzites, very fractured (Girão, 1941), arranged almost vertically like books inclined in a bookcase. The great Late Hercynian fault of Orense-Lousã Basin is quite evident here, separating the Serra do Buçaco from its extension – the Serra da Atalhada – taking advantage of this location on the Mondego river to make its incision and define its route, in a clear adaptation to the tectonic component.
